BMW 330i Oil Filter Housing Replacement DIY (2019-Present BMW G20, G22 430i, G42 230i, B48 Engine)

►Owning a BMW comes with a few guarantees, one being the eventuality of replacing your oil filter housing gaskets. The issue isn't as bad as it was several decades ago, but shrinking rubber seals are inevitable when surrounded by that much heat. A typical oil filter housing gasket leak will consist of oil, and while not a powerful leak initially, it can become pretty serious. An OFHG leak is a high-pressure leak; the higher the pressure, the quicker it leaks out, potentially robbing your engine of the lubrication it needs.

The replacement process can be pretty involved. It involves draining some engine coolant and oil, so a bit of a mess is almost guaranteed. However, taking your time and following the DIY should make it straightforward. This job also opens up access to a few other items that can go wrong, so you may want to look into that before starting.
