Join Jennifer Dixon ERYT 500 and Authorized Ashtanga Yoga Teacher for a quick tip for your Thursday morning. Today, we are going to talk about one simple thing you can try to help get your foot forward from the downward facing dog position to a forward position like in Warrior 1 or Crescent Lunge.
Things to think about, it’s better to use your muscles than it is to use momentum.
You can control the movement much better when you start from your muscle strength than when you hurl your body with momentum.
Place that back foot down, like you’d be planting it in warrior 1 (heel down) and push off with that back foot (the heel may come off with that boost).
As you push off the back heel, use that to help lift your hips higher into the air as you pick up the foot going forward to plant it down at the front of the mat.
Go ahead, give it a try and let me know what you think!
