Season 1 Episode 11 - Friendship

Friendships can feel so very tricky at times, but it is a God given relationship that we should nurture in our lives. We need friends to help us work through the good and the bad in our lives. How do we build friendships and how do we keep friendships? I dive into this subject in my recent Podcast, but I wanted to dive a little deeper on the subject.

Communication is key in any relationship. Friendships take work and a lot of us are so stressed and pulled in so many directions that giving friendships the time it takes is not something that we want to do. There is not a one pat answer for what friendships should look like, but when you communicate your expectations and your feelings you are able to make sure your friendships are what you want and what you need. Whether that be talking once a day, to only texting, to going and doing things, to needing someone to check in on you, there are many different ways to have a friendship and you have to seek it out. Any relationship requires work from both parties and without that it will wither away. Encourage your friends in their times of need!

If you don’t have friends that build you up, then start praying for God to bring them to your life. Pray that he will put you in the path of others that will be equally yoked with you. You need friends that have similar beliefs and will always point you to Jesus. Don’t exclude those that you think you could never be friends with. Open your heart to the friends God would have for you. Some of my dearest friends are not people I ever would have imagined being in my inner circle. They challenge me and they help me grow in many different ways and we need those kinds of friends too. We don’t need cookie cutter we need divine appointed friendships that only come with prayer and devotion.

I pray that as you walk through your day that you will feel encouraged in the Lord to seek out those that will help you on your journey. I pray you find those friends that will last through the tests of time. I pray that your heart would be open to hear which direction you should walk and how you should love on your friends.
