Well, here we go, the 4th in my series of featuring inspirational photography from folks outside of the YouTube sphere. This month we've got Multiple Exposures, Pinhole Photography and some awesome Scottish Landscapes. If you just want to watch those galleries, then fast forward to 27:38. Before then I take a look at 5 entries from last months competition and look for photos within photos. Check it...
Also, the latest BOOM competition is launched. Get your entries for Julu (your best image shot in July) to me by 23:59 (BST) on 12th August to be in with a chance of winning another FotoVue book. I'll feature 5 images and offer a little critique before choosing my favourite which will be the winner.

CLAIRE ASHMORE
Most of my work are multiple exposures, I overlay images and this is what comes out. I tend to find that I don’t really feel emotion or connect when I take my photos as that comes through when I process the images. How the colours and textures come out depends on how I’m feeling when I’m editing my work.
In ’Hold the dark’ project all of the flowers are dying, and I’m trying to capture that aspect of their beauty. ‘Starless’ on the other hand are shot from inside my car through the windscreen in the morning after snow or rain, or when there is mist or ice.

I can’t remember a time that photography hasn’t been part of my life. It is my escape, it is what I do to relax. I practice a wide range of photography formats from digital, film and probably my favourite pinhole photography on many different subjects.
Pinhole photography, for me, strips back all the technical aspects of modern day photography and gives you the freedom to concentrate more on the composition. It delivers an excitement for me that other formats don’t give.

SCOTT ROBERTSON
Photography just sort of crept up on me. Coming from a hillwalking background I soon discovered I enjoyed the photography aspect of shooting mountain views as much as the liberating experience of climbing a Scottish mountain. So it stands to reason, living in the Highlands, mountains are a predominant feature of my pictures along with a few trees thrown in.
Initially my approach was more than a little ham fisted, climb a mountain, pull small compact from my pocket and record the views from the top with no consideration for composition, light or camera settings. After discovering the online world of landscape photography along with the work of a few household names, I knew I wanted to produce pictures of better quality, and thus the madness begun. Obviously, my approach had to change from those early forays. At first, I embraced the planned shot approach with consideration to direction of light, seasons, weather and time of day but in recent years I’ve moved away from this in favour of a more relaxing approach mainly because my time to shoot was restricted after an employment change. I found getting the preferred conditions to coincide with a day off extremely frustrating resulting in crushing disappointment. For a picture to please me it needs to make an emotional connection. That connection usually involves some mood, atmosphere, drama and/or a fleeting moment of light. My approach now is a preference to just wander a location shooting whatever comes my way or what pleases my eye with no preconceived ideas or pressure to produce a shot on the day. I hope my pictures reflect this.
