(Nobody Comes Out Here) Found Unbelievable Abandoned Hot Springs In The Least Visited Part Of Idaho

The road between Howe and Ellis crosses through one of the most remote and rugged areas in Idaho—the Pahsimeroi Valley. This high, wide basin sits between the Lost River Range to the west and the Lemhi Range to the east. With no pavement, few people, and miles of open space, it feels like stepping back in time. Early settlers came here in the late 1800s under the Homestead Act, hoping to carve out a living from the dry, unforgiving land. Some built ranches that still stand today, while others left behind collapsing cabins, rusted equipment, and fading traces of the past.

The valley gets its name from the Pahsimeroi River, a narrow stream that flows north through the middle of the basin before joining the Salmon River near Ellis. Though small, this river provided just enough water for hay fields and grazing, helping support generations of ranching families. Mining booms in the surrounding mountains brought short bursts of activity, but the valley itself remained quiet—cut off from major roads, major development, and mostly overlooked.

Now, I’m exploring what remains—abandoned homesteads, forgotten structures, and overgrown trails that hint at the lives once lived out here. The landscape is raw and empty, framed by jagged peaks and open sky. Join us as we uncover the forgotten history of this hidden valley.
