By the time Adrian understood what was happening, the shooter was already inside killing children. A 17-year SWAT veteran just said it under oath.

Guillermo "Willie" Ku spent 17 years on San Antonio PD's SWAT team. He's been shot in the line of duty. He's executed hundreds of no-knock warrants. The defense brought him in to analyze what Adrian Gonzales did on May 24, 2022, and his conclusion was clear: Adrian drove toward what he thought was the threat while other officers held back.

The prosecution tried to challenge him on cross. But the expert made one thing undeniable: Sergeant Coronado, who is not charged, had line of sight to the shooter and went the wrong direction around the building. He thought it was a bailout. 📖 CASE BACKGROUND

On May 24, 2022, a gunman entered Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, killing 19 children and two teachers. For 77 minutes, children called 911 while nearly 400 officers waited in the hallways and outside.

Gonzales arrived before the shooter entered the building. He was a school district officer who had helped teach active shooter training two months earlier. Surveillance footage places him within 200 feet of the gunman when the first shots were fired.

A grand jury indicted Gonzales on 29 counts of child endangerment in June 2024. The trial was moved to Corpus Christi. Judge Sid Harle presides. DA Christina Mitchell prosecutes. Nico LaHood defends.
