Welcome everybody,
This video is a tournament recap from a memorial tournament I played this weekend, featuring strong competition in the Belgian chess scene. The players included none other than Belgium’s top player, Daniel Dardha.
This first recap episode covers Rounds 1 and 2 of the event, focusing on two very different and highly instructive games.
In Game 1, we enter the English Opening, where an extremely interesting and lesser-known sideline leads to a rich and original middlegame. I break down the key ideas, plans, and critical moments that shaped the game.
Game 2 shifts gears completely, featuring a sharp King’s Gambit from the Black perspective. This game is all about initiative, tactical awareness, and practical decision-making in a highly dynamic position.
These games set the tone for the rest of the tournament and offer valuable lessons on opening preparation, adaptability, and handling very different types of positions back-to-back.
📌 In this video you’ll see:
A recap of Games 1 & 2 from a strong memorial tournament
An offbeat and creative English Opening sideline
A sharp and tactical King’s Gambit as Black
Practical insights from real tournament play
Key lessons from facing strong opposition
This is the first of three tournament recap videos. The remaining games will be covered in upcoming episodes, so make sure to stay tuned!
