The inaugural Southport Classic and Speed event in October 2021, was a tribute to Miss Dorothy Levitt, who was the first British lady to take part in a competitive speed event, winning her category in the 1903 Southport Speed Trials, aboard a 12hp Gladiator.
The 2021 event featured an amazing themed display of veteran, vintage, classic and modern vehicles.
The earliest cars on display included a 1886 Benz, 1901 Bertrand, 1903 Gladiator 12hp, a 1903 Panhard Lavassor, 1909 Alldays and Onions, and a 1911 Renault.
There were some gorgeous pre-was Bentleys, and amongst the many Jaguars on display was a D-Type and race-prepped XK120.
Another highlight was a 1946 Bristol Type 400, the very first car produced by the company, and clearly showing its BMW heritage, while a 1914 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost rightfully attracted many admirers, as did a stunning 1974 Lamborghini Espada.
