In this video, I’m walking you through one of my favorite ways to start a chest workout — the dumbbell bench press. I like to kick things off with this movement because it gives me a solid chest pump right out of the gate, and I’ve built a strong mind-muscle connection with it over time.
I’ll talk about how I position my elbows to keep the movement natural and avoid shoulder strain or injury, and I’ll share some tips on how to really control the negative portion of the lift to make every rep count.
You’ll also see how I safely get up and out of the flat bench without dropping the dumbbells — a move that’s often overlooked but super important for protecting your joints and gear.
Whether you’re new to lifting or trying to dial in your form, this video breaks down how I approach dumbbell pressing with intention and technique.
