Calls to Ban Junk Food Ads in Australia

If it seems like junk food ads are everywhere it's because they're, well, everywhere.

And independent MP Dr Sophie Scamps says there's a direct link between those ads and childhood obesity. A new bill has been introduced in Parliament today that could see junk food advertising banned from kids' entertainment platforms. There's still a long way to go before we know if these laws will actually come into effect, but if they do we'll be seeing a lot less of them. 

TROOPING THE COLOUR

King Charles III has celebrated his first official birthday parade as King! Thousands of people turned out to watch the parade, called Trooping the Colour. The tradition dates back to 1760 and this year featured about 1,400 soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians. He also became the first monarch in more than 30 years to take part on horseback, something his mum, Queen Elizabeth, gave up when she was 60!

SAUSAGE DOGS WORLD RECORD

Sausage, after sausage, after sausage! No matter where you looked, it was absolute sausage dog overload here in Melbourne yesterday! But why? Well, these snag-shaped hounds and their owners were trying to break the world record for largest dog walk by a single breed! Some even dressed for success, and they also raised money for charities that re-home and rescue these lil' guys. So did they do it? Yup, wiht 1,385 dachshunds taking part, Melbourne smashed the record previously set by beagles in England back in 2018.

BOXING CLASS WORLD RECORD

This boxing class saw knockout success in Mexico City! An estimated 15,000 people turned out to take a jab at breaking the world record for the largest boxing class ever! The city actually already holds the record after smashing it last year with 14,299 people, and they're clearly keen to hold onto it!

DUCK-BILLED DINOSAUR

Now to this duck-billed dinosaur in Chile. Almost ten years ago, scientists discovered these remains at the bottom of a hillside and now after years of hard work investigating they say it's a species of Dino they've never seen before. They reckon it roamed the earth about 72 million years ago and this digital reconstruction shows us what it might've looked like! So, a lot bigger than an actual duck.

PYRAMID PARAMOTORING

Finally, to some daredevils with fans on their backs! Ok, it's a bit more technical than that. This is paramotoring which is basically like motor-powered paragliding, and these pilots have been working hard to prepare for this glide, about 200 metres above Egypt's great pyramids. They're hoping to promote the sport and get more paramotor enthusiasts on board before their next big event in October.
