This lecture introduces the foundational concepts of Descriptive Geometry and Multi-View Drawings, which are the "grammar" of drafting. I explain the basic principle: projecting a 3D object onto a "glass box" and then unfolding the faces to create the Front, Top, and Side Views [00:15]. I credit Gaspard Monge (1765) as the father of this formalized system, whose main goal is to find the True Length of lines, the True Shape of planes, and the True Angle between features [02:05]. The most critical concept I teach is how to project points to a new view (like the side view) by measuring the distance from the point's corresponding line in the view "two views away" [05:56]. I finish by showing a practical AutoCAD tip on how to use the Offset and Copy commands instead of circles to speed up the projection process [20:44].
