For a Few Dollars More (The Church Duel Music)

My reproduction of "The Church Duel Theme" from my favourite spaghetti western, "For a Few Dollars More". Starring Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef and Gian Maria Volonte. The music is also sometimes known as "The Chapel Shootout" and was composed by the legendary Ennio Morricone.

I learnt this piece by ear back in the 80s so most of it was played from memory. I used just the basic functions of FL Studio to compose each track. The main orchestral instrument I used is my favourite "Edirol Orchestral" (which is an old 20+ year old 32bit "FREE" vst). The other bits are some very old sound fonts (inc the Church Organ). I have also recreated the full final end duel sequence which is already uploaded here in my channel (which again was never released in its entirety - which then motivated me to try and create it).

The scene in the movie where this piece is featured involves the psychotic villain "El Indio" just after he has escaped from prison. The original released soundtrack unfortunately never contained the actual composition of the music as laid out in the movie. Instead they released a version called "60 seconds to what" which featured the three bars of the guitar sequence as here in the Church Duel, with an obvious bad cut to the church organ and then a straight cut to the Colonel Mortimers end duel sequence (with a high trumpet version included that wasn't even in the movie). Whoever released that soundtrack must have had no interest in the music featured in that movie.

Playing music in your spare time and trying to recreate your favourite musical melodies is a great way to relax from the daily rat race. Its so easy to get into and learn to do. You just need the basic home computer and a passion for music. You're never too young or old to get into a hobby like this. Even if its just whacking out random sounds to create something from nothing. Because its a spare time hobby, I keep it simple and try not to delve too much into major technicalities like EQ, saturations, mastering etc. If it sounds okayish or if I had enough then I do some old school compression and render out the complete project. At some point I will upload a tutorial aimed for complete newbies to help you get into knocking out sounds and music from your computer - the cost is basically nothing.
