PEMY Engineering studied the need for and how to make a new LNG tank standard at the request of the US Department of Transportation PHMSA. We show how a new standard for the inspection of these tanks should be tackled and what the considerations are. We also show what the recommendations to PHMSA were which included that API (American Petroleum Institute) write this new standard.
In this regard the US will leap ahead of the rest of the world in terms of technology for LNG tanks because no entity has yet created a good, robust inspection standard for LNG tanks which can be adopted by regulatory agencies - until now.
