The industry of buying and selling scrap from former foreign military bases has become a multi-million dollar one in Kandahar, employing thousands of local people. Scrap dealers comb Kanadahar Air Base, which was once a major US military facility for years, in search for equipments which they can sell for cash. The treasure hunt is not always profittable, however, since most of what remains was intentionally shredded and ruined by its original owners, the Americans, in fear that it may be used for making bombs. Al Jazeera's Jane Ferguson reports from Kandahar.
