Los Gigantes Coastal Walk 🌊 Cliffs, Natural Pools, Village & Sunset Beach | Tenerife West

Welcome to Los Gigantes, on the wild and dramatic west coast of Tenerife.

In this walking tour, I follow a peaceful coastal path with the Atlantic Ocean always beside me, slowly approaching the impressive Los Gigantes cliffs. Along the way, the sound of the sea, the mild temperature, and the flat, easy path make this walk incredibly relaxing and inviting.

From a distance, the natural pools appear between the rocks, with hotels and white balconies overlooking the ocean on the right. A curious rock formation with a natural hole frames the cliffs like a window, offering a unique optical effect before descending towards the pools.

Swimming here can feel magical when the sea is calm, but it’s important to remember that this is the Atlantic Ocean, not the Mediterranean. Just weeks ago, sudden waves caused tragic accidents in this very spot. When the sea is rough, these pools become extremely dangerous — respect for the ocean is essential.

Continuing towards the village of Los Gigantes, the walk passes scenic viewpoints, quiet benches with breathtaking panoramas, villas built into the rocks, and even homes with private pools overlooking the cliffs. A relaxed bar with a pool and sunbeds offers a perfect stop for those staying nearby.

The journey continues through the village streets to the church square, where restaurants, a glowing Christmas tree, and local life create a warm atmosphere. From a high viewpoint, the beach appears below, just in time to descend before sunset.

At the entrance to Playa de Los Guíos, a colourful mural and a tropical-style bar welcome visitors with music, plants, and views over the sand. The beach itself has lighter sand than elsewhere, framed by towering cliffs still lit by the sun.

The walk ends at the harbour, surrounded by boats, seafood restaurants, and the calm rhythm of coastal life.

This is Los Gigantes at its best — powerful, authentic, and deeply relaxing.
