In this video, we take you behind the scenes of one of the most shocking multi-equine welfare cases our team has faced in recent years. A horse breeder and dealer — responsible for dozens of animals — was successfully prosecuted after authorities discovered 41 neglected horses, emaciated mares, critically ill foals, and even a dead horse in a field.

Field officers describe the moment they first arrived at the property and immediately realised the severity of the suffering. With no proper feeding, no worming programme, poor conditions, and expanding numbers of brood mares and youngsters, the situation had spiralled far beyond what the owner could (or would) manage.

What followed was a major multi-agency rescue involving emergency veterinary care, transportation of all animals from the premises, and long-term rehabilitation. Many of these horses — now safe, recovering, and finally receiving the care they deserve — continue their journey with us thanks only to the generosity of our supporters.

The breeder has now received a lifetime ban from keeping equines, ensuring he can never repeat this cruelty.
