For our adventure this week we were on one of the classic Lake District routes tackling Blencathra via Sharp Edge. Although Sharp Edge is a walkers route it is not one to be taken lightly as we were reminded of having heard about a death on the edge just a few weeks earlier.
We had been waiting a while to take on this significant Wainwright and the weather finally held out just enough for us to climb it. So we headed out for an evening jaunt up what is still be favourite mountain in the Lake District.
The summit of Blencathra is often a busy place but we were lucky enough to get it to ourselves for a while as we enjoyed the views and admired the scenery. The only downer on our day was some horrid midges on the scramble up from Sharp Edge which really tested our resolve. Other than that though this was a great walk up a classic scramble.
