Mitochondria || The Fundamental Unit of Life - 12 || for Class 9 in Hindi

In this Science (Biology) video in Hindi for class 9th we explained the structure and functions of mitochondria with diagram. This is a topic from Chapter 5 - 'The fundamental unit of life' of science from NCERT.

The mitochondrion is a semi autonomous double-membrane-bound organelle which generates most of the cell's supply of ATP (Adenosine triphosphate).

ATP is the source of energy for cell. So, Mitochondria are known as the powerhouse of the cell.

Mitochondria have their own ribosomes and hence, they can produce some of their own proteins. So, mitochondria are known as semi autonomous organelle.

Mitochondria are abundantly found in heart muscle cells and they are absent in red blood cells.
