Men's Faded Hair Cut
SHORT FADE
This module will show how to do a short fade blending from skin to very short hair.
Step one
First open the clippers all the way to get it close to the skin. Start with keeping the hair away from the sides. Section the hair out of the way to keep some of the length on top.
Step two
With the clippers all the way open, scoop up a little higher, bringing it up and through. While scooping the hair, bring the clippers up and away. Work around the head. Make sure the balance is similar, both sides are the same.
Step three
Take clipper over comb and scoop up with the hair. Scoop up to blend the hair. Do not go across with clipper, it will give it a strong line.
Step four
Close the clipper half way and blend from the skin to the shorter hair. Scoop up and through around the hair line. Close the clipper a little more so it gets shorter and shorter to create a soft transition from no hair to hair.
Step five
Once the transition is completed, refine the line with scissor over comb to begin that connection. Use the fine teeth of the comb and drive the sheers with the thumb, going over and through to clean up the line to make it blend.
Step six
Make your way to the top and remove some of the length. Do not cut it too blunt because it will be heavy. Work from the inside out to point cut the hair. When working towards the crown, make sure there’s not too much length. Take vertical sections and point cut to remove the length, going from the mid-shaft of the blade to the tip.
Step seven
When transitioning to the front and removing the corner that sits in the transition, round out the top so it will not stick out.
Step eight
Continue to take vertical sections when transitioning to the sides. On the right side, the left elbow will be up. On the left side, the left elbow will be down. Point cut or carve it out to remove some initial length. Then point cut over comb to soften up the line and remove excess length. If the client has a lot of growth patterns, work around the growth pattern to make the hair pliable.
Step nine
After point cutting the hair, address density by using the texturizing sheers inside the hair. The hair will grow out softly. After removing the density on top, start to work with the density through the sides as well as the transition on the fade.
Step ten
When continuing the transition to make that fade, it’s best to use the texturizing sheers to work inside. Cut over comb or under comb to soften up the density When continuing to refine this cut, it’s in the details that gives the cut the value. Taylor this cut from shorter to longer, dealing with density and length.
