महाराष्ट्राच्या क्रांतिकारी लढ्यातील आद्य नाव म्हणून अमर शेखांचा उल्लेख येतोच येतो. कामगार चळवळीचे प्रणेते बनून संपूर्ण महाराष्ट्रात आपल्या शाहिरीने समाजमन ढवळून काढणारे अमर शेख एक वादळ होतं. २० ऑक्टोबर १९१६ रोजी अमर शेखांचा जन्म झाला. अमर शेखांचं मूळ नाव होतं मेहबूब हुसेन पटेल होतं. पण चळवळीच्या कामात जीव वाचवण्याच्या प्रयत्नात त्यांच्या मित्रांनी अमर शेख हे नाव ठेवलं आणि तेच पुढे कायम झालं.
