After treating over a thousand clients with anxiety disorders, I have learned what works best. I have developed a system for helping all kinds of people recover from mild to severe anxiety.
I call it the C.A.L.M. Method. It is a combination of techniques from several therapies including Somatic therapies, ACT, Mindfulness, CBT and DBT therapies, along with a few of my own techniques. I have grouped these techniques by theory and recommended order of completion.
C = Calm the Body (Somatic) Techniques
A = Acceptance & Mindfulness Techniques
L = Logic (CBT & DBT) Techniques
M = Moving On (Distraction Techniques)
This is the last video in the (C)alm the Body segment, and it includes one of my personal favorite techniques called Progressive Muscle Relaxation. It is effective for releasing muscle tension, reducing stress, calming anxiety, improving sleep, improving the management of chronic pain, sports performance and recovery in athletes. You can practice Progressive Muscle Relaxation on your own or by repetitive use of this video.
