In this video, I visit a mushroom “commune” called Fungi Academy in Guatemala. Fungi Academy is part mushroom education center and part intentional living community.

Today, I’m stepping into this world to explore what it really means to live in an intentional community, learning not just how to grow mushrooms, but how fungi themselves might hold the blueprint for sustainable, interconnected living.

Fungi Academy has been around for nearly a decade, where so many other communal living projects have collapsed so I want to know: what makes this place different? And what can mushrooms teach us about how to build a future where community can truly thrive?
