How often do you create a goal for yourself, but after a while you lose motivation, procrastinate, and then abandon the goal completely? Right, it happens to all of us! We know it is the most powerful way to design our future, but how do we design goals that we actually stick to?!
In this video, I will explain my personal, step-by-step approach of goal setting, goal assessing, and pursuing goals. I will address topics like finding a why, layering, core values, reverse engineering, SMART goals, and more.
Additionally, I will also describe three research-based tips and methods anyone can apply to increase their focus, motivation and discipline. Techniques like applying both positive and negative goal visualisation, how the combination of visual tension and a 'one-word-focus' can help improve your focus before you start your hard work, and how the concept of Growth Mindset can make you enjoy the hard work itself.
For this last technique, I go a little in-depth on how dopamine can negatively affect our motivation and goal initiation, and how you can use dopamine and the concept of growth mindset for your goal pursuit.
This goal setting process and the mentioned techniques can be useful for anyone that wants to improve their performance in work, school, fitness, or personal development. You can apply it for your new years resolutions in 2023, or for your set goals in any other moment in time!
Just because this goal setting process has worked for me, does not mean that this automatically works for you! But it is worth sharing!
