In this video, we finalize the assembly of our custom steering column for the 1957 Chevy pickup. The sealed roller bearing has arrived, allowing us to finish the custom fabrication and install the steering shaft. We'll show you how we installed the bearings, fitted the u-joint, and got the column mounted in the cab.
The result is a clean, factory-like installation, ready for steering input. We take it for the crucial "first turn" test, demonstrating how smoothly the custom setup operates. This video also shifts focus to the next set of challenges, including fuel tank placement and modifying the rear suspension mounts to fit around it. We discuss potential solutions for extending the frame rails and finding a suitable fuel tank, opening the floor to viewer suggestions.
