The drive through Shiretoko National park was amazing, the roads were stunning. The fog and clouds floating between the mountains was so pretty to watch but the scenery was so lush and green. One of the pretties drives yet. At the national park head quarters we rented out some marine shoes for the hike up Kamuiwakka Hot Waterfalls.

Once we arrived at the place the instructor had mentioned there was a bear in the morning near the car park of the falls, this kinda got us a bit on edge. The hike was fun and very strange that the falls themselves was not slippery at all. It was something really different and not something either of us have done before. Once you’ve got to the top you can feel the water getting warmer and then you can just chill in all the little pools of hot water, slowly making your way down.

As much as we wanted to see a bear we also didn’t at the same time, still no sites of bears until we got to Mountain Range Observatory. If you’ve seen Studio Ghibili movies before seeing the endless green fields was stunning, then seeing a few deer amongst the hills was cute.

Finally, we saw a bear, it was pretty far away but we got to see one in the wild in its own habitat. Bucket list item TICK!
