This was my instant favourite piece of music from SwSh when I first played it back in 2019. I love the JR-esque chimes and the reworking of the Wild Area theme into this sort of high-energy, rhythmic style.
The idea for this arrangement came around as early as 2021 but I never completed it beyond the first repetition of the track (see my first Twitter video archive!). I re-approached it earlier this year, and initially I thought it'd be around 4 minutes long but it turned out double the length haha. I decided I'd lean more into the train aspect and sprinkle in a couple references to JR chimes and train-related music; also some train chugging noises and the Japanese railway crossing alarm (thank you Shibamata). See if you can hear them all! Also referenced in this arrangement are the town motif (midway through) and bits of each town's themes where the railway stops from the games (in the final synth solo).
Visuals-wise, I found this cool JR station sign generator (https://tr246.github.io/Sigene/index.... ) and made signs for every station using very cursed kanji based off the original Japanese names. Hope you enjoy those if you can read/speak Japanese/Chinese :D
The introduction takes a bit of inspiration from doctorn0gloff & ZBW's "The Furthest Tree" ( / the-furthest-tree ), which you should listen to if you like Miku and weird metric modulations!
