Lots of midges have a slender, segmented abdomen and a bit of fluff (often peacock herl) at the head. The Willy's Pip is the best of the lot, in my opinion, but it has fallen through the cracks and seldom gets fished.
The secret is in the extended, furled body, which mimics the segmentation on flies such as the Brassie, but moves better. This method can be scaled up or down to match everything from #26 San Juan Midges (just use tying thread for the body) on up to large lake chironomid "bomber" patterns (use a body braid material or mix in some flash with the floss).
