Noble Island | the climb (Short Version)

​Noble Island: Gold Mines, Crocodiles & Solo Sailing Adventure!

​Join me for an incredible and intense exploration of Noble Island, an ancient, rugged island off the coast of Queensland. This trip was full of history, natural dangers, and stunning views!
​I'm anchored near a sandy cove, but staying clear of the surrounding reef. Noble Island is famed for its caves and a history as a gold mine, specifically for alluvial gold and wolfram (black gold).

​Exploring the Island's Secrets
​Mine Shafts and Tunnels: I go deep into the island's past, exploring the remains of the old mining operation. See the hard rock tunnels the early miners blasted, searching for their fortune!

​Wildlife Watch: This trip was a constant balance between history and safety! I found multiple fresh crocodile slides—including one from a massive 12-foot saltwater crocodile! Dealing with crocs, stonefish, and underwater rocks made anchoring quite the high-stakes puzzle

​Hiking Challenges: After securing the boat, I set out to explore the ridge line. While the views of How Island, Lizard Island, and Cooktown are magnificent, I made the tough decision not to summit the main peak alone—safety first on a solo voyage!

​Relics and Ruins: Check out the fascinating relics left behind by the miners: old concrete foundations, rusted machinery, and the remains of a big boat wrecked by a cyclone.
​Natural Wonders: I finish the Noble Island adventure by exploring beautiful natural sea caves and a stunning blowhole formation.
