Here we are documenting a new arch, Adderhead Arch, on a relatively simple hike that is approximately 4.5 miles long round trip. We also showcase several excellent (unofficial) campsites in this video. If you decide to also explore Cloud Splitter like we did in the video, add an additional 2 miles to your estimate. This hike follows unmarked trails and so some hikers may prefer to bring navigational equipment for guidance. Please note that the map within the video is merely a guide and is not intended to replace actual GPS coordinates.
Moreover, our return to Cloud Splitter was a reminder that the path to the overlook has eroded significantly due to the increase in hikers over the last 6 to 7 years. Many roots, rocks, and trees have deteriorated and made the way up more slippery and dangerous. We therefore recommend that hikers take great caution on this path.
Keep in mind that this video depicts only a tiny fraction of the vast wilderness around the Red River. Plan ahead to avoid dehydration, exhaustion, inclement weather, and dangerous falls. Getting lost
will obviously exacerbate all the above risks.
