Jasmin Hernandez Santacruz is a PhD student training with Dr. Judith Kroll at the University of California, Irvine Center for the Neurobiology of Learning and Memory. Her research explores how people who speak more than one language manage both languages at the same time. By using tools from psychology and neuroscience, the lab is uncovering how bilingualism can shape the way we use both our native and second languages—and how it can even improve broader thinking skills like focus and self-control.
The Howard Schneiderman Training Program in Learning and Memory at the University of California, Irvine Center for the Neurobiology of Learning and Memory (UCI CNLM) aims to train the next generation of neuroscientists in cutting edge techniques, interdisciplinary approaches and team science. The program is funded by the National Institute on Mental Health and supplemented by the Howard Schneiderman Endowment.
