Maa Gayatri - Dayalu - Take Away my Pain

A heartfelt bhakti offering to Maa Gayatri – the Vedmata, Embodiment of Prana, Remover of Sorrows, and the divine light that illuminates our intellect and guides us across the ocean of existence.

The Gayatri Mantra is one of Hinduism's most sacred and ancient Vedic hymns. It is a composite of the Mahavyahriti, great utterance, ("Om Bhur Bhuvaḥ Svaḥ") from the Yajurveda (Taittiriya Aranyaka) and the core verse "Tat savitur varenyam..." from Rigveda (Mandala 3.62.10), composed by sage Vishvamitra.

Full mantra: ॐ भूर्भुवः स्वः तत्सवितुर्वरेण्यं भर्गो देवस्य धीमहि धियो यो नः प्रचोदयात्

Translation: "We meditate upon the divine radiance of that supreme illuminating power (Savitr); may it enlighten our intellect."

The mantra invokes Savitr (the creative, stimulating aspect of the Sun deity), hence it is also called Savitri Mantra. It is a profound prayer for awakening wisdom, removing ignorance, and guiding one toward truth and spiritual liberation. Known as the "Mother of the Vedas" (Veda-Mata), it is chanted during Sandhya rituals, Upanayana (sacred thread ceremony), and meditation for mental purity and divine grace.

Goddess Gayatri Maa is the personification of this mantra in its feminine form (Gayatri Devi or Savitri Devi). Revered as Vedamata, she embodies divine knowledge, intellect, and radiant energy.

Devotees worship her as the compassionate source of enlightenment, bestowing clarity and protection. Chanting the mantra invokes her blessings, illuminating the heart and mind.
