Na PD honors Rwanda’s heroes with the Ambassador of Rwanda to Korea

February 1st is a special day for Rwandans. It’s because the day is commemorated as “Heroes Day” to honor those who have made outstanding achievements or sacrifices for their country. A painful history lies behind the establishment of Heroes Day in Rwanda. Due to the colonial policies of the Western powers in the past, tribal conflicts began in Rwanda. The tribal conflicts led to a war in 1990 and 1994 genocide against the Tutsi, causing pain and suffering for the people of Rwanda after independence. “Diplomat Talks: Na PD’s Diplomacy Diary” is a program that showcases the keen international sense of a veteran foreign affairs show producer. This week, Na PD participated in a commemorative event for Rwanda’s “Heroes Day.” Commemorating the day, which was born amid Rwanda’s painful history, Na PD talks to the Rwandan Ambassador to Korea about who can truly become a hero. Also, commemorating the March 1st Independence Movement Day, we follow the footsteps of “Korean heroes” who stood against Japanese oppression.
