Week 6 of my 7-week 5K PB training block is complete!
This was a week loaded with threshold work, hill efforts, and a brutally fun Gregynog Hall cross-country race to finish it off. The mud was unreal this year — proper slippy, strength-sapping conditions — but I stayed upright and survived the carnage!
📅 WEEK 6 BREAKDOWN
• Monday: 5k easy + 8×100m hill strides + 5k easy
• Tuesday: Long hill threshold session (2× uphill threshold reps, 2k+ each)
• Wednesday: 60 minutes easy with elevation
• Thursday: Big threshold session – 4× 2km (consistent effort, controlled HR drift)
• Friday: Rest day
• Saturday: Fun social Groe parkrun with Nick & Martin
• Sunday: Gregynog XC — mud, water splashes, hills and full gas intensity!
📊 Weekly Mileage: 68.96 km
⏱ Total Time: 6 hours 30 minutes
This was a really strong week of aerobic and threshold development, and the XC was the perfect high-intensity stimulus heading into Week 7.
