In today's video we look over the Czech Pirc Defense! GM Michael Adams is a very strong chess player and he goes up against Veselin Topalov who went with the e4 chess opening this game. There are many good chess openings for black against e4 including the Scandinavian Defense, Sicilian Defense, Caro-Kann Defense, Pirc Defense, Nimzowitsch Defense, Alekhine's Defense, French Defense, and more! The Pirc Defense was mentioned on the list, and this is already a very rare chess openinig for black. How can we make it more rare though? By playing the Czech Pirc!

The Czech Pirc is a good chess opening for beginners because of its straightforward chess moves, chess ideas, chess strategy, chess principles, chess tricks, chess traps, chess games, chess lines, and chess variations. However, the Czech Pirc Defense is also great all the way up to the GM level as we see in today's video. There is something valuable in playing a more rare chess opening... this being that you can gain the advantage in preparation and comfortability! Am I biased? Maybe. I mean I play the Hippopotamus Defense, but I played it to the NM level and plan on joining tournament chess again soon.

When you play a rare chess opening/underrated chess opening, all of the mainstream/mainline chess openings your opponent knows simply goes out of the window. The Czech Pirc Defense is a good chess opening for black, good chess opening for beginners, good chess opening for intermediate players, and good chess opening for advanced players too!
