Meteora - Cooking with Wild Truffles in Greece | At our Neighbour's Table

Nikos Theodorou is a firefighter, oven builder — and hobby truffle hunter. Together with his cousin and their dog Hermes, he roams the forests of Meteora, the spectacular rock formations in northern Greece crowned with monasteries. Their favorite dish is something they cook right there in the wild on a camping stove: scrambled eggs with fresh truffles. Nikos' second hobby is climbing — for him and his family, the cliffs are like a playground. His sister Maro is a ceramicist. Whenever Nikos finds truffles, they end up in Maro’s kitchen: truffle-infused oil, raw vegetable salad with guacamole, carrot cake with truffles — in Maro’s kitchen, there’s always room for culinary surprises.
Their mother Niki experiments with truffles in traditional dishes, like mushroom-pepper-truffle pita baked in her wood-fired oven.
