Basic review of the Hornby R3286TTS. Covering the Sounds coming out of Hornby's TTS Digital Sound Decoder. I also go over some of the decoder performance and small gripes with the Railroad line.
The BR Class 40 was introduced in 1958 as a mixed traffic engine, and at the time was viewed as the pride of the British Rail early diesel fleet, with 200 locomotives built by English Electric by 1962. Originally introduced to haul express services on the Great Eastern and Great Northern routes, the locomotives were quickly replaced by more powerful engines and were subsequently used on the London Midland Region and West Coast Mainline, eventually being deployed to most areas of British Railways.
By the early 1980s, Class 40s were commonly used as relief locomotives or for excursion and holiday routes, before their withdrawal in 1985.
