Ways of the Wildwood
Democracy's direct link to wilderness is long known. It shows that our relationship to the land matters, affecting more than ecological health. Yet this is rarely recognized in the industrialized world.
It's human to live in good relationship with all our relations. Tribal societies from the Americas to Africa to Europe (& beyond) show this as does our long human history. Drawing on my research as a culture/history professor for 20+ years, this channel explores historical attempts to separate us from the wild (keeping us controllable) and paradigms that both help or hinder the recovery of our wildwood ways. Topics include: "civilization" & tribal peoples, environmental history, Native American history, rural history, colonial policies, wild plants, wild animals...
Lectures aren't everyone's thing, so if you're interested I also explore similar topics in light-weight fiction. Follow the link to FB.com/NateeraSkye.
