Learn how to use very low-cost/free tools to easily get the look you want in your fluid paintings! Stop letting the paint be the boss and have more fun with your paintings.

For this painting I used Artist Loft Flow Acrylic paint from Michaels, but honestly ANY paint will work. I have a video explaining how I get cells if you need a bit of help with that.

The only difference is that I now use a lot more Floetrol than I did in that video ...

-- My mix is 1-2 parts paint to 5 parts Floetrol.
-- I then add a little water if necessary to get my paint to be the consistency of really warm honey or like heavy cream (the amount of water will depend on the type of acrylic paint you used ... Flow acrylic (runny like house paint) will need very little water if any, while medium to heavy body paint (thick like toothpaste) will need more water. Try to limit the amount of water that you use ... too much will break down the binding properties of the acrylic paint. How much is too much? Try to keep the amount of water under 50% of the amount of paint.

-- I then add a few drops (3 to 6 drops) of silicone into each color EXCEPT the white. The fact that the white has no silicone encourages the other colors to bleed into the white and "cell" up.

I prefer "3 in 1 Silicone" (it comes in a yellow and black bottle with a red cap...see the video I linked to above). The reasons I prefer it are:
because it dries .... leaves virtually no oily residue once a painting has dried
has no fumes like the spray silicones
comes in a super convenient applicator bottle (with a cap that stays attached!)
But, any silicone you have will get you cells.
