Pessaries can be a fantastic support for women who experience prolapse. They can be fitted and prescribed by a pelvic health physiotherapist, doctor or continence nurse. The cube pessary provides a strong level of structural support, and can be used for a bladder, uterine or bowel prolapse - helping to relieve symptoms of heaviness, pressure, bulging and urinary/bowel retention.
Here are some helpful tips for inserting and removing your cube pessary.
1. Wash your hands and use lubricant as needed
2. You can lie down or stand to insert your pessary
3. No need to shape or fold the cube, just rest it gently at the entrance of the vagina and ease it inwards
4. You can experiment with depth of insertion to see what feels best in terms of comfort and the location of support
5. To remove, be sure to intentionally release the suction as much as you can before pulling out. This may require a finger gently moving around each edge, or squeezing the base to help open up more at the top. Instead of pulling straight down, angling the pull to various sides can also help to relieve suction before you fully remove it.
