Today I am going to share with you a short yoga practice you can do for self-forgiveness. It is actually only one pose long. You may wonder why it is necessary to do a practice like this, well, when we feel like we’ve done something wrong, can’t let go of the past, feel overwhelmed by our mistakes or are overly critical with ourselves, we may try to push these feelings aside, but our body and our nervous system registers them and experiences them as stress and anxiety.

Today’s practice with reclined twisted roots pose will allow us to attend to the stress and tension in our nervous system and offer ourselves forgiveness with a forgiveness prayer.


A Buddhist Prayer of Forgiveness


If I have harmed anyone in any way either knowingly or unknowingly
through my own confusions I ask their forgiveness.

If anyone has harmed me in any way either knowingly or unknowingly
through their own confusions I forgive them.

And if there is a situation I am not yet ready to forgive
I forgive myself for that.

For all the ways that I harm myself, negate, doubt, belittle myself,
judge or be unkind to myself through my own confusions
I forgive myself.
