Dr. Joe DeMarco, chiropractor and owner of OcraMed Health, demonstrates how to loosen tight hamstrings in today's video.
In over 31 years of practice, I've seen a lot of patients with very tight hamstrings. Often, they experience more tightness on one side than the other. This tighter side, is often the side that is chronically injured and painful.
These patients explain to me that they have been stretching their hamstrings "for years", yet the hamstrings never loosen up.
Often, the reason stretching is not helpful, is because the hamstrings contain fascial adhesion build up (AKA Scar Tissue). Fascial adhesions are not stretching material and therefore can not be stretched. Often, stretching just places stress on the muscle tendons and makes the whole situation worse.
The solution: Break up the fascial adhesions in the hamstrings. Then, once the adhesions are gone, stretching will be effective.
In today's video, I demonstrate a number of techniques for breaking up fascial adhesions in the hamstring muscles. Perform them consistently, and you will notice an increase in mobility and less chronic injuries/pain. Good luck!
