Cobra pose — Bhujangasana in Sanskrit — is one of the foundational poses of a vinyasa practice and is ubiquitous across yoga lineages and traditions. And with good reason: prone (belly-down) backbends give us the opportunity to cultivate strength and flexibility simultaneously by extending the spine against gravity. In this “How To” we break down the steps toward building a meaningful cobra pose in multiple variations so that you can progress your practice and find greater comfort now to develop greater depth over time.
