Tucking Your Tail versus Finding the Connection of Your Tail and Feet

A common instruction in yoga, martial arts, dance, and other types of movement practices, as well as in rehabilitation therapy modalities is to tuck the tail (coccyx).
However, this cuts off the connection to the feet and causes localized holding that affects the rest of the body. When one part of the body is statically holding, every other part has to make adjustments to compensate for the holding.
This kind of static holding and tightening in the abdomen isn't just about muscles – it also includes holding and tightening in the organs and glands.
One of the issues as we age is balance and feeling where our feet are in space. Feeling this dynamic connection of your tail to feet helps to keep the blood circulating and the physical and energetic connections between the tip of your spine (tail) and your feet.
Stand and feel this for yourself. You can also do this sitting with your flat on the floor or another surface.
