In this control engineering and control theory tutorial, we explain how to implement a sliding mode controller for a nonlinear system in MATLAB and Simulink.
We will not go too deep into the theory of sliding mode control and we will mainly focus on the implementation in MATLAB and Simulink. We will state the sliding mode control law and show that the control law satisfies the stability condition.
-As a demonstration and as a proof of the implementation principle, we will implement the sliding mode controller for a nonlinear pendulum system.
