Climbing Grange Fell – One Stunning Lakeland Walk in Borrowdale

Grange Fell walk over Wainwright fells via King’s How, Brund Fell & Brown Dodd.

Join me on a scenic hike over Grange Fell, one of the most rewarding yet often overlooked Wainwright fells in the Lake District. This classic Wainwright walk begins from Red Brow in Borrowdale and takes in three key summits: King’s How, Brund Fell (the Wainwright summit of Grange Fell), and Brown Dodd, following a quiet and beautiful Lakeland route.

This circular walk offers stunning views across Derwentwater, the Borrowdale valley, and distant peaks like Skiddaw and Blencathra. Along the way, we explore some lesser-known tops that are part of the broader Grange Fell area, all of which are included in my ongoing Lakeland 365 project.

🗺️ Route highlights:

Start from Red Brow parking, Borrowdale

Ascend through woodland to King’s How

Traverse to Brund Fell – the Wainwright top of Grange Fell

Visit the true summit and continue to Brown Dodd

Return via Joppelty How, Puddingstone Bank, and Frith Wood
