Jonesing to get on the river with one day off from teaching skiing with a plan to go no matter what. A bluebird morning brought frigid temps but the plan was laid and a shuttle set up. My boss dropped me off and I cross country skied a few miles up The Snake River into Teton National Park. The river set with guardrails of ice and as it clouded over the temperature dropped to -10 degrees Fahrenheit. I inflated my Gnarmule Alpacka Packraft strapped my skis on and slid into the frigid water. I floated 11 miles on high alert of ice dams that could form around any corner but made it down to Wilson bridge takeout. Numb toes, a boat covered in a layer of ice, and a smile on my face of an epic day landed me back at my car.
