Part 2: Housing Options for Loved Ones with Behavioral Support Needs

One of the more frustrating transition to adulthood/adult services topics for regional center families may well be securing housing for our loved ones with high support needs. In the 2nd of this 2-part series, we will explore regional center housing options for individuals with behavioral support needs.

There are options that may suit individuals based on their level of need and care. Christiana Gardner, Diversity and Inclusion District Manager, from San Andreas Regional Center (SARC) will explore:
– A care home placement (ARF, adult residential facility)
– Planned individual placement with the support of SLS (supported living services)
– Options, considerations, and the process and the process involved with moving into a behavior support placement
– How to prepare ourselves and our loved ones for the big move: What to expect? What are the required assessments? What documents are needed? What appointments need to be made? Who at the regional center can help?
