As parents, we want to protect our children – even our grown-up children. But we may also want them to grow, thrive, and make their own choices.
If you’ve heard about Support Decision-Making (SDM) and want to know more – or even if you know about SDM – this webinar offers information on how to help your loved one with a disability stay involved in decisions about their own life.
Please join Eileen Crumb, of Family Resource Navigators, as she discusses:
– What is the difference between Supported Decision-Making and conservatorships
– How SDM can help your loved one make informed choices in areas like healthcare, money management, education, and relationships – while you and other trusted supporters provide guidance
– How CA legislation formally recognizes Supported Decision-Making Agreements (SDMAs) in California, even though SDMAs are not legally binding
– How SDM can evolve as your loved one matures
Whether your loved one is a teen preparing for adulthood or an adult navigating new challenges, this session will provide you (and your loved one) with valuable information as you investigate the most appropriate options around decision-making for your family.
This is a Connections California event, a project of Parents Helping Parents – Silicon Valley. Connections California is sponsored in part by the San Andreas Regional Center and the California Department of Developmental Services.
