Lunges, whether as an exercise or just as a way to get up and down from the floor, are an effective way to build hip & hamstring strength, improve your balance, increase your hip extension mobility, and assess (and change) your personal movement patterns that could be contributing to your body issues — especially SIJ, low back, and tight hips.
What you see in your lunge usually shows up in your walking, so refining your lunges to make them super effective can make a big difference in your gait patterns and how your body feels overall!
If you want to make your lunges more effective so they help you improve (or at least find new) movement patterns and alleviate hip pain, low back pain, or knee pain, you need to get a bit technical.
