West Sumbawa is famous for its world-class surf — but you don’t have to be a surfer to love it.
We’re travelling through West Sumbawa, Indonesia, and since surfing wasn’t an option for us, we decided to explore instead. Riding scooters along rough back roads, we ended up finding a completely hidden beach — quiet, untouched, and far from the crowds.
The following morning we set off early and stumbled across a floating village / atoll, stopping to say hello and share lollies with the local kids. These slow, unexpected moments are what make travel through Indonesia so special.
This video captures a calm, beautiful day in West Sumbawa — right before everything changes.
